Please welcome Hamish John McDonald.

Born, 2nd July, 2008.
I find my thirst canot be quenched, as I drink in the innocence of my son. How scary it would be to leave your own space, your home of nine months, oblivious to the mechanics of a world filled with creatures wrapped up in their own hustle and bustle. My heart flutters like dancing butterflies when I see him. My senses spark to life when I hear him. I didn't think that I could love his mother any more than I already did, but I was mistaken. Louisa has given me the most wonderful treasure. We are truly one now. Hamish, you are the trophy of our love and you will be placed on the highest mantle for all to recognise our pride. Your Grandfather, My King, is watching over you, Little Prince. He is your protector, and will guide you, always.
I love you Hamish. I love you Louisa. Allow me be your Protector Knight, and care for you until the end of days.

Sweet Prince, the world is full of Dragons waiting to be tamed. We await your arrival with an anticipation pushing far beyond excitement. Rest well, as your journey will be one filled with much wonder and amazement. Your placid soul will be the salve in a wounded world...

This would be my son :) This scan was taken yesterday (18.5 wks), ironically my Dad's birthday. One of the things that he said to me, about two weeks before he passed away, was that it "would be nice to keep the line going..." Fortunately, I was able to let him know that my beautiful wife, Louisa, was pregnant.....he already knew.
Peace
J xoxo

All who knew him, more than likely addressed him by only one of the many familiars that he went by. John, Johnnie, Johnnie Mac, Johnnie Pop, Jack Mac, JM, Ga Ga, John Pa and lets not neglect the pre Queensland titles of Yowie and Black Alice. Both stories for later on!
I knew him as Dad.
He was my oldest, best friend. My Dad is a very special person. I say ‘is’ because he continues to live inside me. He will continue to live inside every one of us that he touched. My Dad was known by so many names because he was drawn to many different kinds of people, and they embraced him in kind.
What I know about my Dad. I know my Dad was a doer. He didn’t just dream things, he made them real. He didn’t really subscribe to the notion that the words ‘no’ and ‘can’t’ had any real meaning.
I know that whatever my Dad did, it was usually for the benefit of someone else, because quite simply he thrived on the happiness of others. I know that he sincerely valued the friendship of those around him.
I know that his love and kindness were unconditional, and that his generosity has been surpassed by nobody that I know.
Dad was a very creative person and loved to plan, design and build anything he wanted. Perhaps, on occasion, he might get that process backwards, BUT, he would be creating nonetheless!
I shared a very special bond with my dad, one that has thus far spanned 38 years and will continue for a lifetime. Dad taught me how to empathise as his respect for life was apparent to me from a very early age. He ALWAYS did nice things for people. It was that simple.
My Dad was always a good listener and never failed to make me feel secure, even as near as a few weeks ago. He was always interested in what was going on in the world and we spent many hours, of intense crisis talks, planning a better world to live in.
My love of music was borne of my Dad’s passion to be a DJ during the conception of disco in 1979. He allowed my friends and I to use the hundreds of 45’s that made up his funky repertoire.
He was an aspiring, amateur graphic artist and never failed to impress me with his efforts. During the 90’s, along with buying me my first VW Beetle he thought it would be a good idea to start Australia’s first VW enthusiast’s magazine and went on to publish 2 editions and then several editions of the Southside News. It was after this that my Dad shared another of his creative talents. He could write simple verse.
The Today book was inspired by my Dad’s connection with all things living. He shared with us thoughts and musings that he knew would make a difference. Simple, yet, effective words that could kindle a flame of emotion or a gentle healing caress.
I saw my Dad a lot while he was in hospital, more than usual. We spoke a lot about many different things, and although he wasn’t well, he was the same person that helped me grow up, taught me to drive, and followed me to Brisbane to conceive the lives we have today.
I held my Dad in the highest regard and owe him much for helping to make me the person that I am. I will miss him, as we will all miss his physical presence, sorely. But I won’t miss the person. Not really. Just because my Dad has passed away doesn’t mean he ceases to exist. His laughter, his voice, his nurturing, his generosity, his humility, his protection, his philosophy, all still live inside me, and his memory is imbedded into us all.
Celebrate my Dad’s life with fond, happy memories, because they are the ones that reflect the person he was. I will be looking to the night’s sky for the Star with the brightest smile and the cheekiest grin to help me to acknowledge that my Dad is in a good place.
I would like to thank you all for your wonderful words of sympathy and the support you have provided by attending today.
When you leave today you will hopefully take a little more of him with you.
Love and Peace.

Liquid, crystal beads of sweat combined to form a raging torrent of awareness that cascaded from his brow, forming a saline puddle around the souls of his boots.
The Psychic Sphere that surrounded him was near exhaustion but still held enough telekinetic intensity to contain and control a miasma cloak that should offer a few more precious moments of camoflage.
Due to the concentration of the misty screen, they could sense his presence but not perceive the exact position of his current physical form.
The Five Elemental Lords - High Lords of Fire, Water, Ice, Air, and Earth had reluctantly gathered to to lay in wait for the last dissenter. Reluctantly, because the raw force of his magical ability had already destroyed leagues of land, the size of large provinces, with him at the epicentre.
The Elementals were coming into an age of there own, maintaining absolute control over the Seasonal Equilibrium, and shorter term weather patterns. During their reign of supremacy, they had eliminated all but the tiniest shard of opposition.
Perhaps “eliminated” was not quite factual. The truth, in essence, was that entire races had been subdued and were now suspended in a state of frozen animation. The Ice Lord was the cruelest of the rulers found in this Realm, and he found pleasure in taking “pets” from amongst his captors and would reanimate them for his pleasure, only to suspend them again after they had endured his unwanted attentions.
A flash.
In turn, each lord summoned elongated, honed points of refined power and thrust them wildly into the sphere, taunting and cruel. The normal flow of Magic that usually emanated from him was now erratic and confused.
His master had taught him, alomost 500 years ago, how to Evade. Evasion required several rudiments to be performed successfully, and fortunately none of the components required were physical. The technique involved the ability to be able to “explode” matter whilst maintaining the connection, or physical relationship between each other molecule.
Unfortunately, stilling the mind was crucial for a successful Spell, and considering his current scenario this was literally a time to do or die…
